this game was excellent, I'm not too good around jumpscares or scary games in general so this was a good step for me hahaha, nah but nevertheless it was a good game.
Fun game with a lot to improve on feel like it needed so much more build up in a way as i didnt feel much tension still good work man keep at it, hope you keep making more and improving on the small things as you go.
Hey man, I agree. All of the games I've uploaded to Itch were made for jams so I never had the time to flesh out the things I actually cared about like story and atmosphere. These were mostly just good practice games to learn the engine, etc. I have no idea why this game in particular is getting the attention that it is but if it puts eyes on my page for future games, then I'm happy.
That's why I mean for you to keep at it i dont know the smallest thing with game creating haha just being honnest with how i felt with the game and feel like you've got something going if you just keep at it. You're doing awesome man keep doing what you are doing.
I was just exploring the place before finding the kitchen list, and in the dead end looking part of the hallway, with the two doors, on the right hand side is a room, next to the bed is a dresser, open the drawer and there should be a gun
THIS IS ACTYALLY SO GOOD BUT IDK HOW TO NOT GET CAUGHT LOL. IM PLAYING THIS IN SCHOOL RN AND I GOT JUMPSCARED SO MANY TIMES AND AT THE END WHEN I GOT CAUGHT I AUDIBLY GASPED EVERYONE LOOKED AT ME.
"before you finish your tasks" what do you mean by that, like, just before you do them all and check the list for the spooky guy, or before i finish a certain one? i am very keen on revenge.
Well that's an insanely generous score but I assure you I'm only going up from here with the quality and effort I put in. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I wish you luck with your YouTube career.
It's likely the doors did hide the creep, yes. That does tend to happen if you enter a doorway right as the creep does. I'm gonna think about reworking the doors. Thanks for playing.
COOL GAME I REALLY LIKE THE VISUALS AND THE LIGHTING OF THE GAME!!! NGL GOT SCARED FROM THE MAN LOL KEEP IT UP GOD BLESS AND JESUS LOVES Y'ALL!!! I JUST WANTED TO SAY TO FIX THE DOORS IT COULD BE ANNOYING FOR SOME PLAYERS BUT NOT FOR ME THO.
WHERE IS THAT PLANTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT IM STRUGGLINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HELP.
i am having some trouble opening this file. i am on mac btw. i have forgotten how to do the chmod +x command if you know how to do this that would help as i am also having trouble opening things. the error message for this problem is
The application “BGJ 2022.2 - Home Alone MacOS” can’t be opened.
I was worried the MacOS version wouldn't work properly. With no Mac to test it I doubted it would. I'll look into and reply to you again once I think I've fixed it. Thanks for letting me know.
I just figured that i had done the command wrong on terminal i forgot to add a space after chmod +x before i put the file in thats why it wouldn't work. if you need help with the details of the command i can give you them.
how tf do i eat the pizza lol (i'm not kidding i'm currently stuck with the pizza and I don't know how to progress this awesome game help) Edit from two seconds later: i'm an idiot i checked everything EXCEPT the cutting board and that was the solution. :,( im an idiot
I will say that there is a hidden ending if you're looking for another way to complete the game (Hint: There's a certain tool hiding somewhere in the house). As for a hiding ending? I think it's a fun idea. Although I'd have to rewrite the creep AI as for now he just hunts you down no matter where you are. Who knows, maybe I'll incorporate some kind of hiding mechanic in a future horror game.
I loved it it was an amazing game but i kept thinking someone was constantly messing with the doors, I got the "caught" ending and when i turned around to explore some more, there was no jumpscare but i jumped and almost threw my laptop lmao, please make more games like this, and ik the creator probably isnt going to see this but, keep up the amazing work and to all who read this, HAVE AN AMAZING DAY!
Thx 4 the feedback. I agree the mouse sensitivity is inconsistent across builds. From what I can gather, GetAxis functions shouldn't need to be multiplied by deltaTime as Unity handles that automatically, but what I also found out was that the sensitivity on WebGL is naturally much higher because of what it defines as a 'pixel' of space. Instead of fiddling too hard with that I've just tweaked the code a bit and increased the range of mouse sensitivity from the pause menu. As for the movement, that should now also be consistent across platforms/framerates.
Yeah that's the confusing thing, it was kind of the community vs. Unity on that one. If I update this game again I'll look deeper into it but I think I'll just have to let the sensitivity slider be the solution, and keep working on my new game for now, where I have better debug tools to test stuff like that. 👍 Thx again for the feedback.
My girfriend's favorite developers are also puppet combo and Rayll, we had so much fun playing flag guesser in F2F 3. Were really good at flags now and we like your game too. Put it on steam please <3
Glad you liked it. I agree, both of those devs have been big inspirations to me, and both are very talented. I'd like to create something polished that meets modern game standards while also being something I'm proud of before I decide to publish on Steam or other big game markets. Thanks, and nice song btw.
I hope you have the donate feature on your next game, id like to support the projects. Cant wait to see stuff on steam once you are happy with the product. ;)

Take a good look around the house before you finish your tasks. I left a little something for those keen on revenge.

Only real gamers play like this.
was there a monster? i got a caught ending while leaving my room door and i didn't see it. the door movement hid everything i guess
It's likely the doors did hide the creep, yes. That does tend to happen if you enter a doorway right as the creep does. I'm gonna think about reworking the doors. Thanks for playing.

Glad you enjoyed it, I'm gonna have a think about reworking the doors and see if I can find a good mechanical middle-ground.

this is the error shortened.
The application can’t be opened.
this is a common problem for mac users.

using an extractor called the UNARCHIVER i managed to extract the download zip and open the file :)
I just figured that i had done the command wrong on terminal i forgot to add a space after chmod +x before i put the file in thats why it wouldn't work. if you need help with the details of the command i can give you them.
Short but very fun game.
Nice video, thanks for playing.

Gotta love that intro lmao. Thanks for playing bro.
Made a short video about the game, I really enjoyed it :)

Ay I'm just happy you got there in the end lol. Thanks for playing.
No problem, I loved the game, but i'm wondering if you can hide in the house instead of escaping or being caught? (basically have a hiding ending)

So simple but scary. Im not sure if the doors were more terrifying tho... they were wild.
Glad you enjoyed it. Nice vid btw, keep doing your thing 🤙

Aw thank you!
Simple, but it does a good job with the spooks! :)
Thx. Bigger things on the way.
Your Welcome!
cool man make more games :)
Way ahead of ya. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, great vid 👍
I 100% believe you took the characters from sketchfab
You'd be 100% correct.
camera movement and player movement are incorrectly implemented, either not multiplied by deltat time properly or something else is off.
Instead of fiddling too hard with that I've just tweaked the code a bit and increased the range of mouse sensitivity from the pause menu. mouse sensitivity was definitely affected by fps, and atleast according to https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Input.GetAxis.html
there is no multiplication by delta time done before giving it to the user.
I loved it, For your first game, it was great.
Good job!
I liked it, nice work
